Nelson Mountain Biking
Nelson Mountain Biking
Nelson mountain biking is rooted in the city itself. Steep old school trails plunge through cedar, hemlock forests above the shores of Kootenay Lake. Trail networks can be accessed from town by bike, in nearly every direction. Our Slocan accommodations are close to the Slocan Lake and close to excellent mountain biking.
The style of the riding is, for the most part, gravity oriented, using forestry service roads to climb or shuttle to the top of the trails. Trail builders did not shy away from fall lines when they laid out their trails.
The Nelson Cycling Club has an incredible trail crew that maintains the local trail networks and is supported by local businesses and membership fees. If you’re considering a MTB trip to Nelson, consider buying a NCC membership for $25 Join here
One of the areas into which the NCC has put a lot of effort recently is Giveout Creek and Morning Mountain. Gravity trails are now accessible by incredibly well laid out climbing trails like “Fairly High”, “Very High”, “Bottoms Up”
