We’re excited to offer exclusive guided backcountry lodge weeks at the Burnie Glacier Chalet. One of the premier backcountry lodges in BC. Located at 1100m in the Howson Range near Smithers, the Burnie Glacier Chalet perfectly positioned for exploring a rugged part of BC’s Coast Mountains.
Backcountry Lodge Weeks
Choose between two weeks at the Burnie Glacier Chalet, March 24-31 and April 1-7, 2023, January 19-26 and January 26-February 2, 2024.
These are fully catered and guided trips to ensure you the best ski/splitboard experience possible. A professional backcountry cook will ensure you are properly fuelled for a week of backcountry skiing. Two Certified ACMG guides will provide you with great skiing and backcountry safety. Ten spots available per week.
This is the best guest to guide ratio you’ll get at any BC backcountry lodge—five guests to one fully certified ACMG guide. We like skiing in small groups because it provides everyone with a better experience; we think you will too.
The Burnie Glacier Chalet has a nice blend of alpine and below treeline terrain. This allows for skiing and splitboarding in various conditions. There are even great tree skiing shots that slide right back to the chalet—talk about ski in ski out accommodations!
Big glaciated terrain, a deep snowpack and long spring days will give us the opportunity to cover lots of ground and ride some amazing terrain. The cost for this trips is $3250CAD +5%GST per person.
The price includes lodging, guiding, catering, helicopter transport and transportation to and from Smithers, BC. *Prices are not guaranteed as operational cost may change in the next two years.
The The Stork Nest Inn in Smithers, BC is a comfortable place to stay before and after your trip to the Burnie Glacier Chalet.

Meadow Hut has a nice mix of tree and alpine skiing. There are pillows to pop as well as some excellent alpine bowls for the blue sky days. Cupola Mountain towers above the hut and is a great objective if the conditions are right. This lodge has a sauna for après ski relaxation.
