Canadian Rockies Spring Skiing

Little Crowfoot offers an incredible panoramic view of the Wapta Icefield and a great warm up for the days to come!

When the rest of the world is transitioning into flip flops, the Canadian Rockies are kicking into high gear.  By April, the sometimes fickle Rockies snowpack has had a chance to settle out and provides a more stable environment for snow sport enthusiasts.  The long days and more palatable temperatures allow us to take pause and bask in the splendour of the Rockies—scenery on a grandiose scale that takes time to appreciate.

Mt Olive’s NE face, a heralded ski objective reserved for those “good to go” days.

With stability on our side, we can explore the majestic, and at times, overwhelming terrain the Rockies have to offer.  Imagine sprawling glaciers, teetering séracs, giant ice falls, vertical headwalls, magnificent limestone cliffs and iconic peaks.  Now ponder skiing through that very terrain—Those are the Canadian Rockies for you.

Cirque Peak is an amazing ski mountaineering objective, where guests get to embrace the security of the rope to achieve this double summit and couloir descent.

This Rockies experience is based out of Lake Louise, a hotel/hostel based base camp, perfectly positioned to access numerous one day objectives on the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. Comfortable accommodations, with the possibility of home cooked meals or restaurant fare and iconic ski/splitboarding objectives within an hours drive.

Popes Peak, this line is visible from the Trans-Canada; yet, to access the hanging drainage, one must travel through amazing larch forests and hit a narrow sub-alpine bench.
